Founded by Jim Jacoby in 1975, the company has expanded its focus from initial endeavors in “traditional” retail center development to a broader vision of embracing and promoting environmental stewardship. Today, our initiatives include mixed-use development, geocommunities, and greenspace preservation, as well as ventures in healthcare research, environmental and alternative waste-to-energy technology, and new educational tools.

Porsche at Aerotropolis

In May 2011 Porsche Cars North America announced the plan to develop a new North American headquarters facility at the site known as Aerotropolis Atlanta, owned by Jacoby and adjacent to the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International airport. The development of the new headquarters is estimated to result in a $100 million dollar investment that will eventually employ 400 in the Atlanta area.

Marineland Florida

Jacoby Development, Inc. acquired the aging Marineland Florida dolphin attraction in 2001 and related real estate in 1997 and redeveloped the entire park into a modern dolphin facility focused on education and animal/human interaction. JDI also formed a strategic operating partnership with the Georgia Aquarium. Marineland reopened in 2006 with new programs and experiences available to the public and serves as an income generating and point of pride to the surrounding Marineland community. In 2011 Jacoby sold the Marineland dolphin facility to Georgia Aquarium.
